Company History
Halcyon was founded by Charlie Casarella and Joseph Zuzzolo in 1979 in Pleasantville, New York. Since inception, Charlie and Joe fostered an entrepreneurial vision for Halcyon, bringing with them years of experience working for both municipal agencies and construction management companies as licensed professional engineers. With their knowledge of the construction of water mains, sewers, pump stations, and treatment plants, Charlie and Joe joined forces to offer services demanded by agencies overseeing municipal water mains and sewer lines. Halcyon began bidding a diverse pool of small-scale construction projects, which soon paid off. In March 1980, Halcyon was awarded its first sewer contract issued by New York City's Department of Environmental Protection. In response to market demand, Charlie and Joe expanded the scope of the Company's services to include mechanical retrofitting. By 1981, Halcyon was awarded two separate retrofit mechanical jobs.
Presently, Halcyon continues to grow by leveraging its in-house civil and mechanical construction expertise and reputation in the marketplace. Spearheading this initiative are Sal and Assad who have the experience necessary to navigate both the civil and mechanical construction industries. The Company has recently begun work on several large, new projects, including the DUMBO / Vinegar Hill and Chambers contracts.
